ANTAQ (the national waterway transport agency) announced on its internet portal this Monday (10/25) the Environmental Performance Index Panel, or IDA. The panel presents the compliance figures pertaining to environmental compliance surveyed by the Agency in 31 public ports and 92 private terminals in 2020. The IDA numbers are also used to determine the winners of the “Environmental Performance” category of the ANTAQ Award, which had its 4th edition held this October.

The Environmental Performance Index (IDA) was implemented through Resolution No. 2650/2012-ANTAQ and measures the degree of compliance by public and private ports in Brazil with environmental obligations. The results of the IDA have helped to guide sectoral policies and have allowed the identification of successful management measures to be shared among port facilities, in addition to supporting academic and technical studies.
Based on the data collected, ANTAQ created the panel which contains the results of public port assessments since 2012 and private terminals since 2017. The tool is easy to consult and is user-friendly. In addition to the IDA ranking other information is also available such as the index reached by the port facility; indicator analyses, performance history; and a map showing the location of each port facility assessed.
