ANTAQ will hold a virtual public hearing next Tuesday (17) at 3:00 p.m. to collect insights on the systematization of the mechanism used to analyze and investigate possible abuses related to the collection of the Terminal Handling Charge (THC) by shipowners docking at Brazilian ports. The topic (item 3.1) is in the Agency’s Regulatory Agenda, 2020/2021 biennium.
The Terminal Handling Charge (THC) is the price charged for cargo handling services from the port terminal gate and the vessel’s side, which may include the transitory custody of the cargo (for the period contracted) between the maritime carrier or its representative and the port facility or the port operator. In addition, THC is charged for handling services from a vessel to the port’s terminal stack in the case of imports.
The legal drafts and technical documents are available at Audiência Pública nº 03/2022.
Social participation
The public hearing will be broadcast via streaming, recorded, and made available on ANTAQ’s YouTube channel. It is not necessary to register to attend. However, those interested in expressing themselves should register through the WhatsApp messaging app at the number (61) 2029-6940. The registration period will be from 9 am to 2 pm on May 17.
