The Argentine Edible Oil Association (CIARA in Spanish) and the Grain Exporters Association of Argentina (CEC) launched the April edition of its Monitor Agroindustrial publication, in which they indicated that 2,035,799 tonnes of soy bran were sent abroad in March 2022, up 16% (339,760 t) compared to February 2022 (1,696,039 t).
As for Argentine maize exports in the same month, 3,191,612 tonnes were exported, a difference of 1,462,631 tonnes from February 2022 (1,728,981 t).
Besides, 1.1 million tonnes of soybeans and corn were kept from reaching Argentine ports as a result of the truck drivers’ strike that put transport operations in the country to a halt. Thus, given this scenario, foreign exchange was reduced by USD 536 million.
Finally, CIARA and CEC concluded their report by stating that a slight improvement in soybean milling margins was possible due to the deepening of the Paraná river draft and the increased volume of cargo transported in the vessels that cross this waterway. As a result, the industry reduced its negative margin situation, owning to a drop in soy bran prices in March 2022 and a plentiful supply of soybeans.
