Argentina has launched its first offshore bidding round in 30 years, with the bidding including 14 blocks in Argentina’s deep-Atlantic region, 6 blocks in the Austral area and 18 blocks in the Malvinas region. The first phase of the tender is exploratory in nature, with a 4-year tenure to prospect the block. Once an oil reservoir is proven, the government will grant a further 30-year concession for production. The deadline to submit an offer is March 14, 2019, and the interested parties must register 30 days prior to the deadline with a fee of US$50,000 to have access to the details.
