The Argentine company Copimex, which works with railway construction and maintenance, has just announced a project to start operations in Brazil. According to the company’s CEO, Victorio Barra, the plan includes winning one or more partners to run the business on Brazilian soil.
To mediate negotiations with those interested in taking over the operation in the neighboring country, Barra hired the consultancy Global Franchise Consulting, headed by Paulo Cesar Mauro, an executive with a long history of success in bringing foreign companies to Brazil.
According to Mauro, Copimex is looking for an area developer to operate throughout the country, executing services for the implementation of new public and private railway networks, including cargo, passenger, and subway transportation for companies. In addition, the company provides know-how so that these networks can be maintained and updated, taking advantage of the large investments that the country is planning for the railway, subway, ports, and logistics network.
“We are open to conversations with potential partners, which can be companies that are already involved in public works and that want to diversify their activities, or even a medium or large construction company that also wants to diversify. Another open possibility is to attract companies and individual investors from other areas that wish to take advantage of the new moment of opportunity”, explains the Brazilian consultant. Among the hypotheses, Copimex also does not rule out a joint venture with a local group that is interested. The company or investor will need to have an availability of equity capital or banks in the order of at least 5 million dollars.
Paulo Cesar Mauro explains that the immediate availability is 1 million dollars, and it must be directed to the concession fee, similar to a franchise fee. In addition, the value includes the structuring of the office and a basic workshop.
