A delegation made up of representatives from nine provinces in Argentina and members of the Federal Investment Council of Brazil’s neighboring country visited the Port of Paranaguá on the 21st. The visit is part of a series of meetings to learn about infrastructure projects and expand trade possibilities with Brazil.
“The ports of Paraná are strategically located and are consolidated as a logistics hub in Mercosur. Our proximity to Argentina is a key factor in attracting cargo and new business,” highlights the operations director and acting CEO, Luiz Teixeira da Silva Junior.
The Argentine consul in Curitiba, Eduardo Leone, says the visit’s main objective is to open up new market opportunities for both countries. “They are interested in knowing the functioning of the Port of Paranaguá and the infrastructure system, the Atlantic-Pacific corridor, and studying the possibility of having a greater integration, exporting through Brazilian ports,” he explains.
For Pablo Palomares, secretary of Regional Integration and International Relations of the Province of Jujuy, the meeting helps to outline a business strategy. “We can work on the potential of ports for imports and exports and how to connect Argentina to the nations that are a part of the bioceanic export corridor, like Chile, Paraguay, and Brazil.”
The visit to the port included a guided tour along 4.5 km of quays and piers and in the operations area of the Container Terminal of Paranaguá (TCP).
