A Ministry of Agriculture report updated on October 20th states that Argentine producers have sold 32.7 million tons of soybeans so far in the 2021/21 harvest.
The pace of sales fell short compared to the previous harvest; up to the same date last year, when exports reached of 33.9 million tons, according to official data.
The 2020/21 soybean harvest ended June at 43.1 million tons, according to the Buenos Aires Grain Exchange, which estimated the 2019/20 harvest at 49 million tons.
Foreign currency from agricultural exports is essential for the Argentine economy, which was hit by an annual inflation rate of more than 52% and a deep recession in 2020.
