Argentine ranchers extend meat strike

Farmers in Argentina will continue the suspension of beef sales in the country until Wednesday, June 2, in protest of the decision by the Argentine government to temporarily stop exports of the product.
A representative of CONINAGRO (the Argentine association of beef producers) provided the statement to Reuters on the extension of the strike, originally scheduled to last until May 28.

On May 17, Argentina, one of the leading global beef suppliers, announced the suspension of its beef exports for 30 days. According to the government, the country took the measure to contain high protein prices in the domestic market.
