Asia Shipping is celebrating its best August in the last seven years. The company recorded a 28.18% growth in shipments from China to Brazil, jumping from 14,418 TEUs in August 2022 to 18,482 in the same period this year.
According to Rafael Dantas, Sales Director of Asia Shipping, this “record of records” is the result of a combination of factors: an increase in the automotive industry’s participation, reinforced leadership in imports, and increased demand with the approach of Black Friday. Dantas highlights, “In this last quarter, we have high international transport demands typically associated with festive moments like Christmas, New Year, and during the Chinese New Year.”
He points out that the volume shipped by the automotive and electronics sectors has been a major differentiating factor for the company’s performance this year, along with the high demand for photovoltaic panels, which is expected to grow even further with the expansion of solar energy use in Brazil. A study by the Solar Portal, a franchisor of photovoltaic projects, indicates that the additional demand for electricity in Brazil, resulting from the electrification of the vehicle fleet and the production of green hydrogen, is expected to drive the domestic solar energy market to approximately R$2.2 trillion by 2050.
