Asia Shipping LCL service in Rio Grande do Sul reduces costs by 22%

The Porto Alegre branch of Asia Shipping has expanded its LCL service via Itapoá, leveraging its efficient connection capacity between ports in the south of Brazil and ensuring high-quality end-to-end transport. As a result, customers have benefited from a significant 22% reduction in costs.
The LCL DTA product originated in Rio Grande do Sul and is now extended to Itapoá, Santa Catarina, to serve the China – EADI Novo Hamburgo route. This involves establishing a HUB in Santa Catarina for cargo transfer to Rio Grande do Sul.
This new route enables direct departures from crucial locations such as Shanghai and Hong Kong in China, as well as Nhava Sheva in India. The primary goal is to lower costs and reduce transit time for cargo. Under this new arrangement, the route now has a transit time ranging from 30 to 35 days.
By introducing this new service, Asia Shipping, the largest logistics integrator in Latin America and the only one from the region to be featured in the Ranking of the 50 largest freight forwarders globally, has also managed to decrease transit time from 50 to 38 days. This time-saving benefit greatly enhances productivity within the industrial chain, as the transport allows for the consolidation of goods from multiple customers in a single container.
According to Jonas Meyrer, the manager of the Porto Alegre branch, such achievement was made possible through Asia Shipping’s integrated management approach. He explains, “Our main differentiating factor is the combination of transit time and cost reduction. We have room for negotiations at the ports, handle customs clearance, and have our own truck for deliveries. All of this enables us to offer attractive prices. A significant portion or at least a considerable volume of the cargo destined for Rio Grande in our consolidation comes via Santa Catarina, where we load in China and unload in Itapoá.”
While the service is currently widely used by sectors such as electronics, automotive, footwear, industrial parts, and sports products, among others, it can be tailored to meet the needs of various industries. Looking ahead to 2023, the focus for Asia Shipping is to meet increased demand for delivery and expand its customer base. Meyrer emphasizes, “Our goal for 2023 is to address more delivery demands and expand our customer base.”
