Acting Governor Priscila Krause attended the opening of the second edition of Fruit Attraction Brazil in São Paulo on Tuesday (25). As Brazil’s top fruit-exporting state, Pernambuco marks its second appearance at the event, reinforcing its leadership in tropical fruit production and trade, with a spotlight on produce from the São Francisco Valley, including mangoes, grapes, melons, and guavas. The trade show, running through Thursday (27), is organized by IFEMA MADRID and FEPEX.
“Pernambuco is Brazil’s largest fruit exporter, and participating in Fruit Attraction is crucial for connecting producers with buyers looking to bring Brazilian fruit to international markets. We have turned an arid region like the São Francisco Valley into a thriving agricultural hub, creating jobs and opportunities. Additionally, we have several initiatives in Pernambuco, such as PE Produz and Sertão Vivo, focused on strengthening family farming,” said Acting Governor Priscila Krause.
At the event, the Secretariat of Agrarian Development, Agriculture, Livestock, and Fisheries (SDA) is showcasing sustainable farming practices adopted by producers in Pernambuco, underscoring the state’s commitment to food quality, safety, and environmental responsibility. “This effort strengthens the local economy by further driving fruit exports,” said SDA Secretary Cícero Moraes.
The Pernambuco state government’s booth, located along aisles D and E, offers visitors a comprehensive view of the region’s agricultural output and business opportunities. “Last year, Pernambuco led Brazil in fruit exports, generating over $307 million, while the country as a whole exported roughly $1.3 billion. That means nearly a quarter of all fruit exports came from our state. This is vital for our economy, attracting new investments and creating jobs,” said Mauricio Laranjeira, Executive Secretary for Investment Promotion at the Secretariat of Economic Development (SDEC).
Suape Port, which continues to solidify its role as a key gateway for fruit exports from the Northeast, is both a participant and sponsor of the trade show. “We are working to integrate Suape into agribusiness shipping routes, and this event brings together major industry players who can help us achieve that goal. Our team is focused on structural projects such as dredging operations, ensuring that Suape has the necessary infrastructure to attract new ventures,” said Suape Industrial Port Complex CEO Marcio Guiot.
Abrafrutas President Guilherme Coelho highlighted the significance of the state government’s presence at the event. “Pernambuco is Brazil’s top fruit-exporting state, accounting for 24% of all fruit shipments. The state’s participation in an international trade show like this is essential for generating new business opportunities,” he said.
“Pernambuco has a diversified economy full of opportunities. Our government is making major infrastructure investments to lower logistics costs and enhance the competitiveness of local producers,” concluded André Teixeira Filho, CEO of Adepe.
