Brazil’s beef exports reached 217.11 thousand tons in February, a 6% drop compared to the volume shipped during the same period last year, the Brazilian Association of Meatpackers (Abrafrigo) reported this Monday (3/17), based on federal government data.
On the other hand, revenue increased, driven by the value per ton exported. With exports of fresh and processed beef and by-products in February, the country earned USD 1.038 billion, a 12.6% year-on-year increase.
The average price of beef in February 2024 was USD 4,000 per ton, and this year it reached USD 4,782 per ton, the association highlighted in a statement.
In the first two months of 2025, the sector’s exports totaled 456.14 thousand tons, a 2% decline, while revenue reached USD 2.066 billion, growing 12%.
China, Brazil’s largest customer, reduced its import volume by 5.3% in the first two months of this year, to 183.8 thousand tons, according to Abrafrigo. Revenue from shipments to the Chinese market, however, reached USD 895.9 million, a 4.5% increase.
