On February 12, Bracell SP carried out, using a single vessel, the largest cellulose shipment in its history. The Hyundai Paramount vessel, owned by the South Korean shipowner HMM, transported 150 containers, each containing 26 tonnes of kraft pulp; that is, a total of 3,900 tonnes from the Port of Santos. This was the largest container load ever exported by the company in a single shipment.
According to Raphael Gonçalves de Castro, a shipping specialist, such an operation is a landmark for the company that proves Bracell’s growth and places it in a whole new competitive level among the container shipping market.
The ship was destined for Ningbo, China, with an expected arrival date of April 3 after 35 travel days.
Bracell optimized its loading procedures, yielding excellent operational performance coupled with solid integration among the entire port community and the company’s operator. “We are quite proud of the outcome of this operation because it represents the continual evolution of our activities in the Port of Santos since their inception. Besides, this is a significant achievement for our entire team, considering we only began port operations a few months ago,” said Alberto Pagano, Supply Chain Manager at Bracell.
HMM, represented by Multiseas Agenciamentos Marítimos, has been operating in Brazil since 2006. It has recently announced a service route between Asia and South America’s East Coast, making stops at some of the region’s major ports.
