Brado has established a Special Export Customs Clearance Area (Redex) at its Rondonópolis terminal in Mato Grosso. This designated area facilitates customs clearance processes for goods awaiting export release. Once cargo enters the Redex area, it is remotely monitored by the Brazilian Federal Revenue, using information systems and surveillance cameras installed on-site. Customs officers can request a more detailed inspection at any time, either in person or through mobile camera access.
The new Redex setup expedites the export process, enabling cargo clearance directly at the terminal and routine operations. The facility has been fully approved by the Federal Revenue. “Redex in Rondonópolis allows cargo to be prepped for immediate maritime shipment, reducing operational time and minimizing the risk of missing a scheduled sailing. This setup also enhances cargo security and helps reduce congestion at port facilities—yielding benefits across the entire logistics chain, especially for our customers,” said André Luis H. Nóbrega, Brado’s Planning Manager and head of the Redex project.
Brado invested R$3 million in infrastructure upgrades, including Federal Revenue-standard fencing, enhanced vehicle and personnel access controls, and increased camera coverage to monitor the entire area without blind spots. The Redex spans 146,600 square meters, encompassing much of the Rondonópolis Terminal.
Brado’s Redex in Rondonópolis handles dry cargo such as cotton, grains, and lumber. Lumber, in particular, benefits from on-site methyl bromide fumigation, a process restricted to Federal Revenue-authorized areas. This fumigation, a mandatory process for eliminating insects, weeds, and fungi, ensures wood is treated before export.
“With the frequent challenges in port logistics flows, the Redex terminal offers a strategic and effective solution. It provides a streamlined process for essential steps like customs clearance, fumigation, and cargo inspection,” noted Pedro Azevedo, CEO of PA Trading and a Brado client.
“All cargo is 100% tracked from the moment it enters Redex. It leaves the terminal for rail transport with its final container seal in place, effectively internationalizing the cargo. This tracking system ensures additional security throughout the entire process,” Nóbrega added.
