Oct, 13, 2023 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202340
Brazil and Algeria have concluded negotiations for opening the Algerian market to Brazilian chicken. This achievement followed a review of certificates and audits that informed the analysis and establishment of phytosanitary requirements for importing the Brazilian product.
This milestone is the result of collaborative efforts between the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
Brazil is the world’s largest exporter and the second-largest chicken producer, establishing itself as a reliable and competitive supplier. It allocates 36% of its national production to international markets.
In 2023, Brazilian chicken exports reached $6.73 billion by August, marking a 5.5% increase compared to the same period in 2022. Last year, Brazil exported $9.52 billion worth of chicken, shipping 4.6 million tons to 170 different markets.
The primary importers of Brazilian chicken include China, Japan, the United Arab Emirates, and Saudi Arabia.
