
Brazil announces USD 1374bn trade surplus in 4th week of June

The Brazilian trade balance recorded a trade surplus of US$ 1.374 billion in the fourth week of June (June 19th to 25th). Data released on Monday, June 26th, by the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC) reveals that this surplus was achieved through exports worth US$ 6.395 billion and imports totaling US$ 5.021 billion. As for the monthly figures, the surplus stands at US$ 8.081 billion, while the year-to-date surplus amounts to US$ 43.003 billion.
Until the fourth week of June, the average daily exports witnessed a decrease of 5.8% compared to the same period in 2022. Within the different sectors, there was an increase of US$ 49.15 million (13.3%) in Agriculture, a decline of US$ 81.62 million (23.1%) in the Mining Industry, and a decrease of US$ 63.24 million (7.6%) in Manufacturing Industry products.
Imports also experienced a decline of 15.2% during this period compared to the daily average. Within specific sectors, there was a decrease of US$ 11.27 million (42.2%) in Agriculture, a reduction of US$ 45.81 million (41.2%) in the Mining Industry, and a drop of US$ 113.22 million (11.5%) in Manufacturing Industry products.
