Exports of bovine genetics (i.e., bull semen) from Brazil reached the highest point in history from January to September 2022, according to the Brazilian Association of Artificial Insemination (Asbia) in a study conducted with Cepea (Applied Economics Center).
In the eleven-month period, 361,056 doses of semen for cut cattle were shipped to 11 eleven countries, up 11.8% compared to the same period in 2021, while 345,828 doses for milk cattle were sent off to 14 countries, totaling 706,884 doses, an increase of 4.4% on the same comparison basis.
In a note, Asbia assesses that Brazilian genetics “is getting increasingly recognized.” In total, semen sales (cut and milk) reached 19,669,138 doses between January and September 2022, according to Asbia.
This result represents a decrease of 5.8% compared to the first nine months of last year (20,886,986 doses).
