Brazil chicken meat exports over 425,000 tonnes in June 2024
Jul, 08, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202427
In June, Brazilian exports of chicken meat, encompassing whole chickens, cuts, processed chicken meat, and salted chicken meat, surpassed 425,000 tonnes. This performance helped keep the trend initiated in March when monthly exports began to exceed 400,000 tonnes.
While June exports were lower than those of the previous month (approximately 442,000 tonnes in May 2024) and June last year (around 431,200 tonnes), this decline is attributed to the month being shorter. June had 20 working days compared to 21 in May 2024 and June 2023.
The following chart provides an overall view of Brazilian poultry meat exports (measured in TEUs) between January 2021 and May 2024. The data comes from DataLiner.

The first half of 2024 included one additional working day compared to the same period last year. However, this was insufficient to counteract the declines observed since the beginning of the year. Consequently, the first half of 2024 ended with a volume 1.32% lower than the same period in the previous year. Nevertheless, there was a 3.3% increase over the second half of 2023, totaling just over 2.447 million tonnes.
Typically, chicken meat shipments slow down slightly in the second half of the year compared to the first. Considering this trend and the average of the last 12 months (second half of 2023 and first half of 2024), the total exports for 2024 are projected to reach 5.015 million tonnes, slightly above the 5.009 million tonnes recorded in 2023.
