According to data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), exports of poultry genetics—including hatching eggs and day-old chicks—totaled 2,139 tonnes in January, a 13.4% decrease compared to the same period last year, when shipments reached 2,470 tonnes. Export revenue for January amounted to $19.233 million, down 0.8% from the previous year’s $19.391 million.

Mexico remained the top destination for Brazilian poultry genetics, importing 898 tons in January, a 13% increase compared to last year. Other key markets included Senegal, with 455 tons (-3%); Paraguay, with 338 tons (+97%); Venezuela, with 186 tons (+289%); and Colombia, with 73 tons (+181%).

“Despite a temporary decline this month, we see strong demand from countries that are traditional importers of Brazilian genetics, such as Mexico, Paraguay, and Venezuela. We expect this demand to remain strong in the coming months,” said ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
