The Brazilian government has been informed Paraguay has decided to open its market for the export of caprine and ovine semen and embryos. Negotiations began in March of this year, but the approval of the International Health Certificate, which allows these products to be exported, was only completed this month with the publication of zoosanitary requirements by Paraguay‘s health authority.
According to the document, the handling, loading, and freight conditions adhere to internationally recommended sanitary standards, ensuring necessary precautions to prevent contact with any potential source of contamination.
Per Brazilian government metrics, Brazilian animal genetic material exports – excluding bovine genetic material – totaled USD 825.2 thousand from January to October this year. The main markets for Brazilian products are Costa Rica, Ecuador, Paraguay, Peru, and Uruguay.
Brazil entered 65 new foreign markets with its agricultural products this year, thanks to the efforts of the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (Mapa) and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MRE).
