Brazil: exports grow 23.2% in the 1st week of April

The Brazilian trade balance had a surplus of US$ 3.352 billion in the first week of April, and the trade flow reached US$ 11.675 billion due to exports worth US$ 7.513 billion and imports of US$ 4.161 billion. In the year, exports totaled US$ 83.686 billion, and imports cost US$ 64.49 billion, with a positive balance of US$ 19.196 billion and a trade flow of US$ 148.177 billion. The numbers were updated this Monday (10/4).
Comparing the averages up until the first week of April 2023 (US$ 1,878.36 million) with those recorded in the same period in April of last year (US$ 1,524.72 million), exports increased by 23.2%. However, when comparing the daily average for April 2022 ($1,091.73 million) with the average for the first week of April 2023 ($1,040.35 million), there was a 4.7% decline in imports.
As a result, during the studied period, the trade flow averaged 2,918.71 USD million per day, and the balance averaged 838.02 USD million per day. The trade flow increased by 11.6% compared to the April 2022 average for this period.
Sectors
In exports, in the year so far, up to the first week of April 2023, compared to the same month of the previous year, the performance of the sectors was as follows: growth of US$ 175.66 million (40.6%) in the Agriculture sector; growth of US$ 6.03 million (1.9%) in the Mining Industry sector and increase of US$ 167.49 million (21.6%) in the Manufacturing Industry sector.
In imports, in the year up to the first week of April 2023, the performance of the sectors by the daily average had a decrease of US$ 5.13 million (-20.4%) in Agriculture, a fall of US$ 18.95 million (-25.3%) in Extractive Industry and fall of US$ 23.26 million (-2.4%) in products of the Manufacturing Industry.
