Brazil Hosts Pivotal Low-Carbon Hydrogen Summit, Shaping the Future of Clean Energy

With the approval of Bill 2308/23, which regulates the production of low-carbon hydrogen (H2V), by the Brazilian House of Representatives, Brazil steps into a global discussion about the future of energy transition. To debate key topics on the development and implementation of the fuels of the future, more than 300 industry representatives are gathering this Thursday and Friday (October 10 and 11) at the Hydrogen Dialogue Latin America, the largest green hydrogen conference in Latin America, held at the Pullman São Paulo Ibirapuera.
Now in its third edition, the event comes at a highly strategic and pivotal moment for the sector. “The expectation is that, with specific regulation in place and Brazil’s potential to become a hub for low-carbon hydrogen production and exports, investors will accelerate projects and, in turn, contribute to the decarbonization of industries in Brazil,” says Vinnicius Vieira, partner at Hiria, a company within the NürnbergMesse Brasil Group responsible for organizing the event in partnership with Guia Marítimo and the Brazil-Germany Chamber of Commerce in São Paulo (AHK-SP).
According to data from Thymos Energia, this type of fuel is expected to generate $350 billion in investments worldwide by 2030, with Brazil accounting for $28 billion, or about 8% of the total. Additionally, an analysis from BloombergNEF’s financial research institute suggests that Brazil will be one of the few countries able to offer green hydrogen at less than $1 per kilogram over the next six years, while globally, the same amount is projected to cost around $3.
To better align with this promising future, companies in the sector are working to exchange knowledge and establish connections with countries like Germany, which already has effective low-carbon hydrogen projects and hosts the European edition of Hydrogen Dialogue. “Brazil is not only educating and preparing its industry but also reaffirming its role as a leader in building a more sustainable and cleaner energy future. The forums and technical missions foster knowledge exchange and networking between leaders from Brazil, Germany, and across the globe who participate in our events,” adds Vieira.
The program offers solutions for various scenarios in the low-carbon hydrogen industry and market, addressing legislation, regulation, and incentives, potential applications in mobility and industrial decarbonization, production and logistics hubs, certification, and a series of panels on green logistics.
