The manufacturers installed in the Industrial Pole of Manus (PIM) produced 137,346 motorcycles in October, says the industry association Abraciclo. The group’s report was released on November 10, revealing a 26.6% growth over the same month last year, when 108,400 units were manufactured. However, compared to production in September, more than 139 thousand motorcycles, October’s numbers are down 1.6%.
Abraciclo clarified that October saw the third-best results for the year. Production fell after the two months with the highest production of 2022: August (145.8 thousand), the best number, and September (139.6 thousand).
From January to October, 1,198,889 motorcycles were produced at the Manaus hub, an increase of 19.3% over the same period last year. In 2021, 1,005,014 units left the assembly lines.
The industry association said this is the best result for the period corresponding to the first ten months of the year since 2014. That year, more than 1.3 million units were manufactured. The group projects the production of 1.420 million motorcycles this year, which represents an increase of 18.8% from the numbers for 2021.
Sales
In October, 120,273 motorcycles were sold at retail, a 24% increase over the previous month, with 97,000 units. However, compared to September, volume is 2.7% lower, with over 123 thousand motorcycles sold. In addition, October was the third-best month in terms of motorcycle registrations. Most licenses were issued in May, with 133,344, followed by September, with 123,641.
Exports
Abraciclo members sold 4,047 motorcycles abroad in October, representing 3.2% less than in October 2021, when 4,182 units were shipped. Compared with September, the retraction reaches 30.1%, with exports of 5,786 units. The association uses data from the foreign trade statistics portal Comex Stat to indicate that Argentina was the leading destination for October, with 29% of the total.
Year-to-date, exports amount to 47,717 motorcycles, a volume 1.6% higher than January to October last year. Comex Stat data indicate that Colombia is the primary market, representing 28.1% of exports, followed by Argentina, with 24.3% of total exports.
