Colombia grew in motorcycle purchases from Brazil (1,436 units, 25.7% of the total exported in August). The country outdid Argentina, the United States, and Canada, thus becoming Brazil’s most important destination for motorcycles. The data above was presented in a market assessment by the Brazilian Association of Manufacturers of Motorcycles, Mopeds, Scooters, Bicycles, and Similar Products (Abraciclo).
The sector’s exports totaled 7,807 motorcycles in August, a 39.2% increase over the same month last year when 5,607 units were shipped abroad. In comparison to July, the foreign market purchased 4,962 motorcycles, representing a 57.3% increase.
The primary market is Colombia, with the acquisition of 1,436 units, or 25.7% of the total shipped. The United States ranks second, with 1,386 units, followed by Canada (926).
According to Abraciclo, Brazil produced 145,852 motorcycles in August at the Manaus Industrial Complex. The volume is 17.9% higher than that recorded in the same month last year when 123,722 units were produced. It is also 39.2% higher compared to July, with 104,776 units.
According to the association, this is the best result for August since 2013, when 157,854 motorcycles were delivered. The president of Abraciclo, Marcos Fermanian, assesses that this production should be reflected in retail sales in September.
In the year, 921,921 units left the assembly line, corresponding to a 17% increase in the same period in 2021. The entity points out that this was the best number since 2014, when the sum of the same period exceeded 1 million.
For the year, Abraciclo’s projection is to produce 1.320 million motorcycles, an increase of 10.5% compared to the previous year.
Regarding retail sales, 118,545 units were registered, representing a 15.7% increase over the same month in 2021 (102,463 units). Compared to the previous month, when just over 107,400 motorcycles were licensed, the growth is 10.3%.
