Brazil negotiates market access for chicken, fish, and dairy products with Guatemala

The Ministry of Agriculture is working to open the Guatemalan market to a range of Brazilian products, including poultry meat, poultry genetic material, eggs, dehydrated pork skin, dairy products, and fish. According to an official declaration, a delegation from the ministry presented the market access request while on a mission in Guatemala.
“We are optimistic that these joint efforts will result in a significant increase in Brazilian exports to Guatemala, diversifying our product offering and strengthening our economic partnership,” said Roberto Perosa, Secretary of Commerce and International Relations, in the statement.
During the visit, Perosa, alongside representatives from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA), met with Marissa Eugenia Montepeque, Vice Minister of Agricultural Health of Guatemala, and representatives from the Guatemalan Chamber of Food and Beverages (CGAB). “The vice minister was very receptive, committing to speed up the necessary technical assessments. The ministry expects the Guatemalan market to soon open up to Brazilian products,” the ministry said.
Guatemala is a major importer of chicken meat, with around 150,000 tons imported from other countries in 2023.
