A report on the Brazilian pork market released on December 12 by the University of Sao Paulo’s Applied Economics Research Center revealed that Brazilian pork exports (fresh and industrialized products included) decreased on November month-on-month, albeit still above the volume shipped in the same month of 2021.
According to data from Brazil’s Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex), 91.8 thousand tonnes were shipped, down 5.5% from October and still 17.8% higher than the volume exported in November 2021. It should be noted that the quantity shipped in November is the lowest in five months.
Please see below the track record of the volume exported of pork (hs 0203) from Brazil to its markets abroad. The data is from DataLiner.

In terms of Brazilian meat destinations, shipments to all of Brazil’s major trading partners, particularly those on the Asian continent, fell in November.
Thus, that month, shipments to China and Hong Kong fell 7% and 15%, respectively, totaling 42.8 thousand tonnes and 7.02 thousand tonnes, according to Secex data.
On the other hand, shipments to African countries have intensified. Data from Secex show that, to Angola, Brazil exported 3.6 thousand tonnes of pork meat in November, 29.2% more than in October. To South Africa, 487.7 tonnes of protein were shipped, more than triple the volume exported in October, 135.7 tonnes. It is worth remembering that, in September, new Brazilian plants were authorized to export pork to the southernmost country in Africa.
