Brazil records 92,000 tonnes of rice surplus at the end of export season

Paddy rice exports reached 1.698 million tonnes during the 2023/24 market season in Brazil, according to data released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC).
On the other hand, imports of paddy rice increased, standing at 1.605 million tonnes. The rice sector’s trade balance saw a surplus of 92.92 thousand tonnes at the end of the season, an improvement from the previous harvest.

According to information released by the Ministry of Development, Industry, Trade, and Services (MDIC), paddy rice exports during the 2023/24 market year were mainly destined for Mexico and Costa Rica.
Broken rice and white rice exports plunged compared to the previous season. On a different note, white rice and unhusked rice fared high among imports, with Paraguay and Uruguay being the main suppliers.
