Brazil registers 74.6% growth in poultry genetics shipments in 2023

The exports of poultry genetics (hatching eggs and day-old chicks) reached 2,448 thousand tonnes in October, according to the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA). This figure represents a 67.2% increase compared to the total exported in the same period last year, which was 1,464 thousand tonnes.
In terms of revenue, there is a 33.7% increase, totaling US$ 20,567 million this year, compared to US$ 15,384 million in the same period in 2022.
Considering the period from January to October, poultry genetics exports totaled 21,572 thousand tonnes, a 74.6% increase from the same period last year, with 12,358 thousand tonnes.
In revenue, there is a 43.8% increase, with US$ 200,567 million in 2023, compared to US$ 139,474 million in 2022.
Among the main destinations for exports in October, Mexico remains the leader, importing 615 tonnes. However, this number is 31.6% lower than the same period last year. On the other hand, Senegal increased its imports by 281.2%, importing 568 tonnes in the month.
“One of the highlights was South Africa, a country that has been working to overcome the effects of outbreaks of Avian Influenza in its production and, this month, resumed imports of poultry genetics from Brazil, totaling 465 tonnes in October, seizing the third position,” details ABPA President Ricardo Santin.
