The Brazilian Congress’ Infrastructure Commission approved the bill (PL 1765/2019) that exempts, until 2031, shipments to or from the North and Northeast of the country from paying the Additional Freight Rate for the Renewal of the Merchant Marine (AFRMM).
According to the report read during the meeting by Senator Lucas Barreto, the tax benefit brings relief to the Manaus Free Trade Zone. Already approved by the Chamber of Deputies, the proposal will now go to the Economic Affairs Committee.
