Brazilian beef exports hit a new record in September 2024, with shipments reaching 286,750 tonnes, generating $1.258 billion in revenue. This volume marks a 7.12% increase over the previous record set in July this year. September’s revenue stands as the third-highest in the sector’s export history, trailing only behind August and September 2022, when average beef prices peaked at $5,900 and $5,700 per tonne, driven by pandemic-related factors.

Compared to August 2024, there was a significant 15.6% increase in exported volume and a 17.4% rise in revenue, according to data from the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (MDIC), compiled by the Brazilian Beef Exporters Association (Abiec). Brazil currently exports beef to over 150 markets worldwide. The Brazilian Beef project, developed in collaboration with the Brazilian Trade and Investment Promotion Agency (ApexBrasil), remains a cornerstone of Brazil’s export strategy, aiming to maintain competitiveness and expand Brazilian beef’s presence in key global markets.

Antônio Jorge Camardelli, president of Abiec, noted that the surge in exports reflects the ongoing efforts of the private sector in partnership with the Federal Government, including the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock (MAPA), the Foreign Ministry, MDIC, and ApexBrasil. “We are focused on expanding Brazil’s beef presence in international markets, with an emphasis on diversifying destinations and strengthening our position in traditional markets like China,” said Camardelli.

“The figures from September highlight Brazil’s solidified status as one of the world’s leading beef suppliers, prepared to meet growing global demand for high-quality, safe food. Our competitiveness stems from continuous investment in technology, traceability, and sustainability throughout the production chain,” Camardelli added.

From January to September 2024, Brazilian beef exports totaled 2.1 million tonnes, generating $9.16 billion in revenue. Compared to the first nine months of 2023, shipments increased by 28.3%, with revenue growing by 20%.

The United States also posted significant growth, with import volumes up by 58% and revenue by 48.7%, totaling 147,000 tonnes and $867.4 million.

The UAE emerged as a key hub for the Middle East, with shipments surging by 162%, jumping from 45,700 tonnes to 120,000 tonnes between 2023 and 2024. Revenue more than doubled, with a 168% increase, rising from $203 million to $547 million.
