Brazil has signed six cooperation agreements with Israel according to President Jair Bolsonaro’s Twitter announcement this morning, during his 4-day visit to the country. Of the total six agreements, four of them are for public security, one on science and technology, and the last one on defense and air services.
Brasil e Israel firmam 6 acordos de cooperação: quatro relativos a segurança pública, questões relacionadas à ciência e tecnologia, defesa e a serviços aéreos. No que se refere a segurança pública, foi firmada parceria de prevenção e combate ao crime organizado.

Bolsonaro intends to take actions to reverse the existing trade deficit between the two countries during the trip, among other issues. According to Secex data, Brazil’s exports to Israel generated US$321m in 2018, while import expenditure including fertilizers and chemical products, stood at US$1.17bn.
The South American country has decided to open a ‘business office’ in Jerusalem, instead of relocating the whole of Brazil’s embassy. Political observers applauded the diplomatic action as a positive decision, avoiding risking an estimated US$5bn in sales of halal food to the Arab world.
