The Brazilian trade balance registered a surplus of US$3.921 billion in October, representing a 100% increase over the same month in 2021. Exports totaled $27.298 billion last month, a 27.1% increase over the same period last year. This increase can be partially attributed to technology exports, which increased by 31% between 2020 and 2021. The volume is higher than the global average of 22%. Last year, this sector moved more than $734 billion globally, with Brazil accounting for only 0.36% of that total.
However, according to foreign trade specialist Sandro Marin, the country has great growth potential to grow in this segment. “It is noticeable that investment by the private sector and the training of new talents in the technology area, such as Industry 4.0 and the launch of new products, will positively impact the development of exports in the coming years,” explains Marin.
One of the examples in the Brazilian technology area is the recently launched Safety Lock, an unparalleled technology that allows control of trailer locks through a cell phone application. “This reduces the number of people circulating in the terminals and ports surrounding the transport operation, optimizing time and reducing the risk of accidents in port areas, according to research,” concludes Marin.
