On Tuesday (22), the Brazilian government announced plans to auction the Port of São Sebastião, located on the northern coast of São Paulo state. A public hearing is expected to take place later this year to gather feedback from the local population, with the auction anticipated by the end of 2025.
According to the announcement, the winning bidder will commit to investing R$660 million under a 35-year concession contract, with the option to extend the contract for an additional 35 years, totaling a potential 70-year lease.
The public consultation will open on Monday (30) and run until November 28. The government is inviting the public to provide suggestions for improving the technical and legal documents related to the port lease. The hearing can be accessed via the government’s official website.
