Members of the port community in Paranaguá, Paraná, expect corn shipments to reach 988.45 thousand tonnes between July and the end of September. This volume includes concluded shipments, the capacity of vessels waiting to berth, and scheduled shipments. No corn shipments are on record for the same period last year due to crop failure.
Yesterday, August 24, two vessels were scheduled to depart from the port with 63,500 tonnes. Another 13 vessels (nine already in the line-up) are waiting and should receive almost 731 thousand tonnes. Three other ships are expected to dock at Paranguá, bringing the total exported to 194 thousand tonnes of corn.
In addition to these vessels, whose holds will exclusively contain corn, another three are already scheduled to receive mixed cargo. That is, some basements will carry corn; others, soybean meal.
See below the track record, in terms of volume shipped, of corn exports (HS 1005) via the Port of Paranaguá in the period from January 2019 to June 2022. The data is from DataLiner.
