Brazil wraps up first week of June with USD 1.41 billion surplus

Brazil’s trade balance recorded a surplus of $1.41 billion in the first week of June, according to the Foreign Trade Secretariat (Secex) of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce and Services (Mdic). This surplus resulted from exports totaling $7.37 billion and imports amounting to $5.96 billion during the period.
The daily average of exports in the first week of June rose by 4.6% to $1.473 billion compared to the same period last year. This growth was driven by significant increases in shipments from the extractive industry (27.9%) and agriculture (8.3%). Conversely, foreign sales in the manufacturing industry declined by 5.6% during this period.

Imports in the first week of June saw a substantial rise of 28.3%, reaching $1.192 billion per day, compared to June 2023. The manufacturing industry led this increase, with daily purchases amounting to $248 million, a 29.2% increase over June last year.
