The country’s beef exports (fresh and processed) totaled 218,500 tons and generated US$ 1.198 billion in September, according to data from SECEX (the foreign trade secretariat) compiled by ABRAFRIGO (the Brazilian association of slaughterhouses). Compared to the same month last year, the volume increased by 31%, and revenue increased by 79%. In both cases, they were the best results for a month of September.
See the chart below for a history of Brazilian beef exports since January 2018. Data are from DataLiner:

Although Brazil voluntarily suspended shipments to China on September 4 because of atypical cases of “mad cow” disease confirmed in Minas Gerais and Mato Grosso, the Asian country continues to be the main destination for sales abroad.
Sustained by cargoes that were delayed in shipment due to logistical problems, including the lack of containers, exports to the Chinese market continued to be relevant, although the month of October will see a strong retraction.
From January to September, China purchased 889,200 tons, or 60.2% of the total volume of shipments, which totaled 1.502 million tons, 2.8% more than in the same period of 2020. The total accumulated revenue grew by 22% to US$ 7.467 billion.
