Brazilian exports to Russia triples in April

The volume of trade between Russia and Brazil increased markedly in April, reaching US$1.5 billion, as reported Prensa Latina, a partner of TV BRICS, citing data from the statistical services of both countries.
The last time the figure exceeded a billion dollars was last December, with similar levels in August and September 2023 and May and July 2022.
Brazil increased purchases of Russian products by 13 per cent over the month. The bulk of imports were petroleum products, which increased by two per cent to US$566 million in monetary terms. However, the most significant dynamics concerns supplies of Russian fertilisers, which increased 1.5 times to US$285 million.
On the other hand, Brazilian exports to Russia tripled, reaching US$172.5 million. It consisted mainly of agricultural products, especially soya. Sugar shipments also increased markedly, reaching US$25 million in April. In addition, meat exports from Brazil to Russia totalled US$13m.
