On Friday, June 25, Brazilian tax authorities seized 358 kg of cocaine at the Port of Paranaguá container terminal on the coast of Paraná. This is the fourth seizure of cocaine carried out in June and the 14th carried out by the Brazilian federal revenue service at the Port of Paranaguá this year, for a total of 2,352 tons.
This time, the criminals used the rip-on/rip-off method whereby the drug is inserted into the container simply by opening the doors, without the exporter’s knowledge. The container was destined for the Port of Tangier, in Morocco. The drug was packed into nine travel bags amid a load of vehicle parts.
The cocaine was located during a routine operation by the Internal revenue service in the terminal yard when a container door was found to be open. The narcotics were located upon inspection of the interior of the container.
The drug, along with all data involving the seizure, will be forwarded to the police, which will follow up with the investigations.
