Brazilian foreign trade has surplus of US$ 1.5 billion in 3rd week of July

This Monday (July 22), the Foreign Trade Secretariat of the Ministry of Development, Industry, Commerce, and Services (Secex/MDIC) released the trade balance results for the third week of July 2024. The report shows a trade surplus of USD 1.5 billion and a total trade flow of USD 12 billion, with exports amounting to USD 7 billion and imports at USD 5.3 billion.
For the month of July so far, exports have reached USD 20.6 billion and imports USD 15.3 billion, resulting in a positive balance of USD 5.3 billion and a total trade flow of USD 35.9 billion. Year-to-date, exports stood at USD 188.2 billion and imports at USD 140.6 billion, generating a positive balance of USD 47.6 billion and a trade flow of USD 328.8 billion.
Monthly Comparison
When comparing the average daily exports up to the third week of July 2024 (USD 1.374 billion) with the same period in July 2023 (USD 1.348 billion), there was a 2% increase. For imports, the daily average rose by 6.4%, from USD 958 million to USD 1.020 billion.
Overall, until the third week of July 2024, the daily average trade flow reached USD 2.4 billion, with a positive balance of USD 355.11 million, reflecting a 3.8% growth.
Sectors and Products
In the period up to the third week of July 2024, compared to the same period last year, sector performance based on the daily average showed a 0.7% increase (USD 2.24 million) in Agriculture, a 6.2% increase (USD 18.75 million) in the Extractive Industry, and a 0.8% increase (USD 6.07 million) in Manufacturing Industry products.
Regarding imports, up to the third week of July 2024, compared to the same period last year, the daily average showed an 18% increase (USD 3.06 million) in Agriculture, a 0.8% increase (USD 0.57 million) in the Extractive Industry, and a 6.7% increase (USD 58.08 million) in Manufacturing Industry products.
