The PAR50 terminal in the Port of Paranagua, designed to move and store liquid bulk cargo, was auctioned on Friday, February 24, at the São Paulo Stock Exchange (B3). The FTS Group bought the terminal for BRL 1 million.
The new leaseholder takes over the area with the obligation to invest a minimum amount of R$ 338.2 million in expanding operational capacity, including the construction of an extension to the pier of liquids and two new berths for the liquid bulk segment.
The area has approximately 85 thousand square meters. Currently, it includes 18 vertical tanks installed and a total capacity of roughly 70,181 m³, piping and pumping systems, and administrative and utility areas.
The new lease term is 25 years. The forecast is that, with the latest investment, more than 300 direct and indirect jobs will be created. Among the planned investments are new pipelines, additional tankage, the expansion of the current pier structure with two new berths, an access bridge, and a truck loading station.
“We strongly believe in the potential of the ports of Paranaguá and Antonina. So much so that today, here, we committed to our second investment,” said the director of FTS Group, Alex Ávila. Also, according to the director, the winning group, which also won the PAR32, intended for general cargo, has the objective of branching out its activities in the port segment.
Luiz Fernando Garcia, the director-president of Portos do Paraná, pointed out that although the auction received only one bid, it was well above the initial grant value and will bring the regularization of one more port area and more investment opportunities to the ports of Paraná. “This win is the result of Governor Ratinho Junior’s commitment, the dedication of our entire team at Portos do Paraná, and our collaboration with Infra SA, which assisted us with studies in the area,” he said.
“These are great projects that make Paraná an increasingly efficient example that serves customers and the port community with great quality,” he concluded.
