Brazil’s grape exports declined in the first three quarters of 2024 compared to the same period in 2023.

According to official data from the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock’s Foreign Trade Statistics System (AgroStat/Mapa), provided by the Brazilian Association of Fruit and Derivatives Producers and Exporters (Abrafrutas), there was a 48.79% decrease in value and a 54.32% drop in volume for the national viticulture sector.

Between January and September 2023, 20,000 tonnes of grapes generated R$53.5 million in exports, while in the first three quarters of 2024, only 9,000 tonnes were exported, amounting to R$27.3 million.

The decline is attributed to excessive rainfall, which affected the fruit’s availability for export.

Mangoes and Limes

In Brazil, from January to September 2024, the value of fruit exports increased by 8.51% compared to the same period in 2023, while the volume exported fell by 3.34%. Mangoes and limes achieved the best results.

The total value of mango exports rose by 46.19%. Despite this significant increase in value, the volume of exported mangoes saw a slight decrease of 0.16%. “This phenomenon reflects the rise in the international price of the fruit, offsetting the minor reduction in volume due to climatic conditions affecting the harvest,” evaluates Abrafrutas.

Limes and lemons saw a 14.52% increase in value, with the exported volume growing by 9.16%. “This demonstrates the strong acceptance of the fruit in the international market and the rising global demand,” the association asserts.
