Brazilian grape exports see uptick in September
Oct, 17, 2024 Posted by Gabriel MalheirosWeek 202440
Brazilian grape exports saw a significant surge in September compared to August. According to Comex Stat data, 3.17 thousand tonnes were shipped in September, marking a 283% increase from the previous month, though representing a slight 6% drop compared to a year ago.
Hortifrúti/Cepea analysts attribute this year’s lower export volume to reduced grape availability in the São Francisco Valley. Producers are carefully managing the supply to meet both domestic and international demand.
Exports are expected to pick up in October, especially in the second half of the month, as harvest volumes expand. Since the start of the export season, stakeholders have reported favorable pricing for Brazilian grapes despite some quality issues, resulting in strong returns this year.
