According to Comexstat, Brazilian melon exports from the 2023/24 harvest continue to outpace those of 2022/23. In the partial season (August ’23 to January ’24), revenue reached $142 million (FOB), a 14% increase compared to the same period last campaign; and the volume amounted to 167 thousand tons, marking a 5% rise.
See below the month-on-month overview of Brazilian exports of melon (hs 08071900) between Jan 2019 and Dec 2023.

It’s worth noting that the harvest is expected to conclude in March in Rio Grande do Norte/Ceará. However, volumes are already dwindling on farms. Central American countries like Costa Rica, competing with Brazil for the European market, have already begun shipping across the Atlantic. Therefore, a gradual reduction in Brazilian melon exports is expected in the coming months due to increased international competition.
