Brazilian orange juice stocks expected to be depleted further by end of 2021/22 harvest

Brazilian orange juice stocks held by exporting companies is forecast to decrease to between 170,000 and 190,000 tons by the end of the 2021/22 harvest cycle, which ends on June 30 of next year, according to estimates by the National Association of Juice Exporting Industries Citrus (CitrusBR). The entity represents Citrosuco, Cutrale and Louis Dreyfus Company. At the end of the 2020/21 cycle, there was a stock of 316,900 tons, already 33% less than the previous year.
According to the organization, the expected retraction stems from climate problems (drought and frost) that has affected the orange orchards in recent months in the production belt that covers São Paulo and Minas Gerais. “The confirmation of this estimate will depend on the conditions of international demand for the product and also on the weather conditions ahead of us,” stated the executive director of CitrusBR, Ibiapaba Netto, in a note.
