According to researchers of the Center for Advanced Studies on Applied Economics at the University of São Paulo (Cepea-Esalq/USP), foreign sales of fresh pork products significantly increased from June to July. However, the price paid per tonne of the product in the international market dropped.
See below the track record of Brazilian pork exports from January 2019 to June 2022. The chart below was done using data gathered by Datamar’s business intelligence team in the platform DataLiner.

According to data by the Secretariat of Foreign Trade (Secex) assessed by Cepea, 87.9 thousand tonnes of fresh pork were shipped in July, up 5.2% compared to June, albeit a 5.3% decrease compared to July/21.
In turn, the value paid for Brazilian pork in the international market dropped 2% compared to the previous month, according to Secex, going from US$ 2,429.42 in June to US$ 2,380.90 in the last month.
For the second half, the Brazilian Association of Animal Protein (ABPA) predicts an increase in Chinese imports of pork due to the formation of stocks for festive events in that country.
In addition, opening new markets, such as Canada and Thailand, and tariff reductions in South Korea and Vietnam may also favor Brazilian pork in the international scenario.
