
Brazilian pork exports fall in August

Brazilian pork exports (all products, including fresh and processed) in August reached 91,000 tons, a 7.5% reduction compared to the same month of 2020 when 98,000 tons were shipped. Revenues remained stable, with US$ 209.1 million in August this year, against US$ 209.2 million in the previous year.
Despite reduced tonnage and stable revenue, volume increased by 11.53% in the first eight months of 2021 compared to the same period last year. The survey was performed by ABPA (the Brazilian association of animal protein suppliers), and presents a total volume of 756,500 tons between January and August this year, against 678,300 tons in 2020.

In revenue, pork sales reached US$ 1.805 billion, an increase of 21.3% over the same period in 2020, with US$ 1.488 billion.
China remained the main destination for Brazilian exports, with 391,100 tons imported between January and August, 17% more than in the same period in 2020. Chile was imported 43,400 tons (+ 76%), the Philippines imported 15,900 tons (+203%), and Argentina imported 19,200 tons (+88%).
