Brazilian pork exports hike 7.3% in September

Brazilian pork exports rose 7.3% in September compared to the same month last year, totaling 120.4 thousand tonnes of fresh and processed products, according to data from the Brazilian Animal Protein Association (ABPA).
In terms of value, pork exports reached $283.7 million last month, a 15.9% increase from September 2023. The ABPA noted that this result represents the second-highest figure in the country’s history, with the record set in July this year when exports hit $309.4 million.
For the first nine months of 2024, exports amounted to 90.7 thousand tonnes, a 7.7% rise over the same period last year. Revenue for the year-to-date stood at $2.169 billion, reflecting a slight 0.4% increase.
Among the top export destinations were the Philippines, which imported 28.2 thousand tonnes of Brazilian pork in September, followed by China with 16.7 thousand tonnes, and Chile with 9.7 thousand tonnes.
ABPA President Ricardo Santin commented, “The positive export trend is expected to continue throughout 2024, with total exports projected to grow further.”
