Ricardo Santin, President of ABPA, remarked, “The performance of chicken meat exports in April rebalances expectations and maintains the sector’s positive projections for the year, despite internal adversities such as Operation Standard. However, we will closely monitor the effects of the floods in Rio Grande do Sul next month, considering its significance for exports. Companies will uphold resilience in production, supply, and shipping while focusing on supporting the recovery of communities in Rio Grande do Sul.”
China, Brazil’s largest importer of chicken meat, received 57.7 thousand tons in April, marking a 22.9% decrease from the same period last year. Japan followed as the second-largest importer, with 42.2 thousand tons, a 5.9% increase from the same comparative period. Rounding out the top five importers were the United Arab Emirates with 41 thousand tons (a 31.9% increase), Saudi Arabia with 37.2 thousand tons (a 59% increase), and the Philippines with 29.4 thousand tons (a 35.7% increase).
Paraná emerged as the leading exporter of chicken meat in Brazil, shipping 196.7 thousand tons in April, a 5.9% increase from the same period last year. Following Paraná were Santa Catarina with 103.9 thousand tons (a 19.7% increase), Rio Grande do Sul with 69.2 thousand tons (a 20.4% increase), São Paulo with 26 thousand tons (a 10.2% decrease), and Goiás with 23.2 thousand tons (a 15.5% increase).
Luís Rua, Markets Director at ABPA, commented, “Following the trend of increased demand observed in recent months, the countries of the Middle East continue to be a positive highlight of the year. We also see a gradual recovery in prices in all markets throughout this year, which is an important indication of the increase in international demand already observed for the Brazilian product.”
