2 million tonnes
“If we continue at the current rate, rice exports will undoubtedly reach 2 million tonnes by the end of the year,” says Gustavo Trevisan, director of international affairs at Abiarroz. However, he believes that more effort is needed to open new markets, such as Mexico, for products like processed rice.
Shipments of processed rice reached 44.4 thousand tonnes in October, with a share of 11.43% of the total volume exported by the country. In the same month of 2021, there were 66.9 thousand tonnes. Revenue fell 30.1% in the same comparative period.
In the first ten months of the year, exports of processed rice reached 448.3 thousand tonnes, or US$ 153.7 million – increases of 19.3% in volume and 1.05% in revenue.
