Brazilian rice exports see 55.6% growth in September

Brazilian rice exports totaled 199,300 tonnes in September, up 53% from the same month in 2021, according to the Brazilian Rice Industry Association (Abiarroz). Revenue increased 55.6% in the same period to US$ 63.8 million.
From January to September, foreign rice sales reached 1.32 million tonnes, or US$ 401.9 million. In the same interval of 2021, the volume reached 817.4 thousand tonnes, and the revenue was US$ 263.3 million. Abiarroz projects that shipments will reach 2 million tonnes by the end of 2022.

Exports of processed rice also grew in September from 54.2 thousand to 62.6 thousand tonnes. In the year, shipments amounted to 403.9 thousand tonnes, compared to 308.6 thousand from January to September 2021.
Also according to figures released by Abiarroz, Brazil imported 120,100 tonnes of rice in September, 52% more than a year earlier. In 2022, purchases totaled 935.1 thousand tonnes, compared to 811.5 thousand tonnes in the first nine months of last year.
